It seems that I forgot
to have children
the unborn me
soft bud kisses
upon my cheek
cherished photographs
never to hold safe
in my keeping
I will not
hold their hand
or comb their hair
their story, untold
they will always
remain unmanifest
forever nameless

Moment of freedom

I thought I died yesterday
for one fleeting moment
I woke without any memory
of the past

everything had been forgotten
and forgiven

I had been absolved
released from
the shackles of history

my great Houdini escape
